Your research is always a consequence of someone else’s groundwork. That’s how the scientific community grows. Communicating your ideas, theories, and findings to other researchers is an indispensable step in the scientific process, then why is this skill so underrated?

We spend months working in the lab on our projects, only to deliver our final thesis report written at the last minute. Lifting (aka paraphrasing) the literature research from other papers, struggling to deconstruct our methodology flowcharts, and de-emotionalizing our eureka moment under “Results and Discussion”: isn’t this what our writing experience is limited to?

Irrespective of what sub-field you specialize in, writing research papers will be crucial and required even after you retire. Effective writing is a key skill, and while there is no set syllabus in our coursework to achieve this, our magazine can help you develop it.

The next 2 months of our magazine are dedicated to helping you build your scientific communication skills. The process is simple:

You can start with testing where you stand by writing a 500-700 words article on a topic of your choice. We have guidelines and templates (similar to those of scientific journals) to simulate the process for you. Your research and writing will then be evaluated by our panel of experts (synonymous with a peer-review process). You’ll receive feedback right from the scholars, so you know you’re on the right track. We check for plagiarism, grammar, style, relevance, accuracy: the 5 key factors of writing.

Why just limit your audience to the scientific community? Broaden your reach through digital posters/infographics that are comprehensible to the general public (while also being scientifically accurate). The poster/infographics competition helps you widen your horizon not only in terms of reach but your creativity too!

Once you have a basic understanding of your audience and experience of writing short articles, the review paper writing workshop will introduce the technicalities of this process. It will provide a step-by-step guide from understanding how your research fits in the existing literature to structuring your work and finally writing your paper.

Now what? Why limit communication to simply writing! We are also providing a platform to VOICE your views and opinions. Through our debate competition, you can learn about systematic presentation, structuring your thoughts for an effective speech, valuing other’s opinions, and most importantly how to be a scientific public speaker.

Finally, we will end this process by first-hand connecting you with our panel of experts. We’ve got you covered from the start of your career! Our experts will navigate you through choosing a specialization of your choice as your career and how to pursue it!

This process is designed to help you develop a legit “life skill” in Science. We believe in learning independently, and that’s what this process does for you!
